About Pony Gayle
Founder & Creative Director, PMG Productions
Pony Gayle is an award-winning filmmaker and the founder of PMG Productions, an independent production company committed to powerful, truth-driven storytelling across film, television, and documentary formats.
Currently in production (2025), Pony is directing and producing The Visionary, a feature documentary chronicling the extraordinary and largely untold story of George Atkinson — the man who opened the very first video rental store and ignited the home entertainment revolution. Atkinson didn’t just launch a business; he pioneered an entirely new industry that forever changed how the world experiences movies. This project is a vital piece of media history and a tribute to innovation, entrepreneurship, and the grassroots birth of a billion-dollar global phenomenon.
In addition to The Visionary, Pony is the creator, writer, and director of the docu-series OUTrageous, now in its 4th season on Amazon Prime and 5th season on Tubi and Roku. The series features powerful true stories from members of the LGBTQ+ community and their allies, offering authentic perspectives often missing from mainstream media. She is also developing a feature-length thriller titled The Contest.
Pony began her career at what is now Spectrum, producing and hosting the groundbreaking local music show Reality View. She quickly transitioned into network production, working with Moffitt-Lee Productions and the legendary George Schlatter Productions. This led to a 16-year career at HBO. Following her time at HBO, Pony became a partner at November Media before launching PMG Productions. With a deep understanding of both storytelling and production logistics, Pony has written, directed, and produced numerous projects, including the award-winning short film The Pink Ladies. Known for her sharp narrative instincts, inclusive approach, and fearless pursuit of original voices, she brings a unique blend of artistry and experience to every project she undertakes.
